In a year when the festival’s theme is “Soul,” the show “We Are the Others" offers a musical journey exploring identity, belonging, and the power of emotion to bring people together beyond all differences. It is a special artistic collaboration between one of Europe’s most acclaimed world music ensembles, Mahala Rai Banda, and musicians Anatol and Cezar Cazanoi, brought together in a project built around the idea that the soul is the universal language that unites us.

Mahala Rai Banda is a group of Romani musicians founded by the legendary musician Aurel Ioniță. Mahala Rai Banda has become a landmark of contemporary Balkan music, captivating audiences around the world with the explosive energy of its concerts and its unmistakable style that blends the authenticity of traditional folk music with modern Balkan Beats influences. Virtuoso violins, passionate accordions, spectacular brass, and electrifying rhythms give rise to a vibrant soundscape, straddling the line between tradition and modernity.

Since the release of their debut album, the band’s reputation has grown steadily on the international stage. Mahala Rai Banda has performed over 900 concerts in more than 30 countries, appearing at prestigious festivals, concert halls, and clubs around the world. Every performance is a celebration of freedom, joy, and the power of music to build community. 

Designed specifically for this edition, the collaboration with Anatol and Cezar Cazanoi lends the project a unique artistic dimension. The meeting of Mahala Rai Banda’s strong personality and the musical sensibility of the two artists creates an authentic dialogue between traditions, generations, and different cultural experiences. Each retains their artistic identity while contributing to the creation of a shared space for expression and emotion.

The show’s title—“We Are the Others”—thus becomes more than an artistic statement. It speaks to the ability to find ourselves in the other, to the courage to look beyond appearances, and to the discovery of a shared humanity. In keeping with the Soul theme, this project celebrates that deep and authentic part of each of us that transcends differences in language, culture, or origin.

Through instrumental virtuosity, improvisation, emotion, and boundless energy, Mahala Rai Banda feat. Anatol & Cezar Cazanoi – We Are the Others becomes a vibrant and unique artistic experience, an invitation to encounter, empathy, and communion.
